I bought this to actually warm the bed for my 90+ year old parents who are always cold. I lay it on top of the other blankets, but it barely radiates any heat to the other layers. It is soft - and large...and the cord is long enough that I can put the plug at the bottom and run the cord beneath the bed and plug it in at the opposite end. I like that it automatically shuts off. I just wish it warmed up a bit more. I try to turn it on about an hour before they are ready for bed.

Third day i finally just tried to max it out, to make sure the thing even works. It DOES- it just took about 30 minutes to slowly get up to a warm temperature, which was fine for me. Slow, and not very hot- max temperature for me is only about the same warmth level as 3 or 4 out of the 10 settings on my other heating blanket. I like it, but it definitely is slow. I just turn it on max before im going to climb into bed, and it warms up satisfactorily. Id appreciate being able to have a higher setting, but the max setting is just comfortable so thats fine.
