Update: I've noticed that even after a few washes, it "sheds". There are hundreds of little threads stuck all over the sheets. Because of the texture of the muslin, you can't remove the threads from the sheets without a lint roller or washing. I've washed it a dozen times and it still does this. Maybe that's just normal for muslin fabric .....? Even if the dryer filter is clean when I put the blanket in to dry, I have to remember to empty it afterwards because the filter will be completely full.

It will snag (it's Muslin) this blanket has a little denser weave and doesn't seem to do it as badly. My ring seems to be the worst culprit, not the cats (I cover it up if they hop on my bed). Love the neutral color! Plan on getting another couple for layering. The price was great, the blanket is fantastic! I won't waste my time testing others out now. Found a winner!!
