Unless you have a perfectly flat damper with no welds and no protruding metal and you cut this perfectly, you can probably use it. I tried multiple different positions and finally found one that was better than nothing, but still let drafts come in. It was the first windy day here and wooooop, there goes the flu blocker right up into the chimney. A few days later after fighting with it for an unreasonable amount of time and navigating it once again around welded metal parts on the flu, one of the handles broke. Save your money and get a balloon, or better yet, a blanket because that works for better than this does. Even in the best position it still lets drafts in.

Unless you have a perfectly flat damper with no welds and no protruding metal and you cut this perfectly, you can probably use it. I tried multiple different positions and finally found one that was better than nothing, but still let drafts come in. It was the first windy day here and wooooop, there goes the flu blocker right up into the chimney. A few days later after fighting with it for an unreasonable amount of time and navigating it once again around welded metal parts on the flu, one of the handles broke. Save your money and get a balloon, or better yet, a blanket because that works for better than this does. Even in the best position it still lets drafts in.

Content: I had to have the bottom damper removed from my old fireplace, as it was broken and blocking the chimney. If you've never had a bottom damper, you don't understand that with it, your home is odor-free. Without one, your home smells like creosote. It's gross. This, however, works perfectly. It closes the chimney, saving heat when I'm not using it, and my house doesn't smell like burning. Worth the money if its driving you crazy. The only time I do smell it is if I have the extractor over the stove on. It's a powerful fan that blows to the outside, so it will draw a little smell since it's across from the fireplace. Once it's off, the smell dissipates.

Content: I like the build quality and clever design of this flue-blocker. I've been looking for a solution to a non-functional fireplace that routinely rains down debris, even after being professionally cleaned. This is for a property that I am hoping to soon have on the market. The fireplace is ready for vented gas logs, so I am very pleased that this blocker comes with a visible, hanging reminder to prevent a new owner from lighting any gas logs before removing the flue blocker. This item is priced a bit higher than I think most buyers would prefer. I wouldn't be surprised if a lower price-point would result in significantly greater sales. Still, even at its current price, I am very satisfied to find this fireplace flue-blocker. Oh, I might suggests ordering slightly oversized if possible and then trimming down if needed.

Content: This made an incredible difference in the temperature of my room by blocking the stream of conditioned air going up the chimney. The room temperature is consistently several degrees warmer during heating season. Unfortunately, it's priced as if it's a golden fleece, but I still consider it a good investment.

Content: I'd been wavering back and forth as to whether or not I should buy this product. I finally decided to get it and it was pretty much all down hill from there. Unless you have a perfectly flat damper with no welds and no protruding metal and you cut this perfectly, you can probably use it. I tried multiple different positions and finally found one that was better than nothing, but still let drafts come in. It was the first windy day here and wooooop, there goes the flu blocker right up into the chimney. A few days later after fighting with it for an unreasonable amount of time and navigating it once again around welded metal parts on the flu, one of the handles broke. Save your money and get a balloon, or better yet, a blanket because that works for better than this does. Even in the best position it still lets drafts in.

Easy to install, notice a difference right after installation and it's an install and forget product. No need to check in unless you use your fireplace. If you do, be sure to remove it and install it back again which is easy.
