Content: Can't say that this thing fit like a glove, but it's only because I have a weird size flu, 8x15 3/4. I searched high and low for anything that came close to that measurement, and this item came the closest. The 8" spread fit perfectly, but the 18" spread just barely caught the flu with the screen. Due to this gap, the provided screws were just barely long enough to tighten onto the flu, and being that far out from the frame, have a tendency to flex. A nut or sleeve welded over the screw holes might help to reenforce the frame and screws and prevent this. In any event, I got this cap installed and am very pleased with it. It's well built, looks good, and feels quit secure. Just because I have an off-size flu is no reason to down grade this cap. 5 stars.

Content: I am very happy with this product. It arrived timely. It is well made and will probably last forever. I bought the black, 9 x 18 (see pictures). The packaged arrived well insulated from damage, and did arrive in perfect condition, with screws included. The install-there is an inside border of mesh that can rest on the top surface of the flue, but I felt that it did not allow enough material for the screws to grab without possibly causing the flue casting to crack or break, let alone possible issues with wind causing it to work itself loose over time. I decided that I would rather have it seat all the way down the extended part of the flue so that I could utilize the friction created by bending back the mesh, and then anchoring securely with the screws. After a couple of trial and errors with bending the internal mesh, then gently tapping the cover into place until it bottomed out on the outer part of the chimney, it finally seated nicely. This made the fit very snug and exactly what I was looking for. After that, secured the screws all around, perfect. I looked around while on the roof. I am the only one in the neighborhood with a chimney cover.

Content: I recently moved into a new home which has two fireplaces. Only one of my chimney flues had a cover over it, so I knew I needed to get a second cover. I measured my flue and ordered this 9x13 cover. There was a plastic bag around the cover and no other protection within the box, but it came undamaged so it wasn't a big deal. There's a ledge within the bottom of the cover which you can rest the cover on while you tighten the screws. The screws were pointed at the ends which concerned me that they were not flat, but they secured the cover to the flue anyway. Having two flues side by side presented a bit of a challenge, as the tops of the covers were too close together. I lowered my old cover enough to be able to install the new one, but not so low as to restrict the ability for it to vent. The new cover is very secure and I don't imagine it'll budge or fly away anytime soon. I'm very happy with this product.

Content: In the past we have had a problem with raccoons nesting. I scared them out with a loud radio left in the fireplace. Our chimney has three flues (2 fireplaces and 1 gas water heater). The caps seem to be nicely made from stainless steel. The metal edges are sharp, so use gloves. It's a good DIY project if you can safely get on the roof and your roof is not dangerously steep. The installation went smoothly, with no need to overtighten, they feel securely attached and will hopefully keep out the animals and rain.

Title: Excellent unit, designed well, price is right.

Title: Works as intended

Title: Well Built
5 stars.
