**Introduction** Meeco's Red Devil 2 LB Powdered Creosote Remover is a promising solution for fireplace and chimney maintenance. As many fireplace and wood stove users are aware, creosote buildup can lead to dangerous chimney fires if not managed properly. This product aims to effectively break down and remove creosote deposits, adding a layer of safety for those who regularly use wood-burning stoves or fireplaces. Based on user reviews, this product provides homeowners with a practical way to maintain cleanliness and promote safety within their chimneys and stoves throughout the colder months. **Advantages** 1. **Effectiveness**: It breaks down creosote deposits effectively, resulting in a cleaner stove and chimney flue. 2. **Ease of Use**: Users find it easy and straightforward to apply, providing peace of mind. 3. **Small Amount Needed**: Only a small amount is needed per use, making it cost-effective over time. 4. **Versatility**: Besides chimneys, it is effective on fireplaces, granite, stone, and even cabinets, providing a wider cleaning solution. 5. **Safety Assurance**: Adds a layer of safety by significantly reducing creosote buildup, thus minimizing the risk of chimney fires. 6. **Cost-Effective Insurance**: Seen as an inexpensive way to prevent potentially expensive and risky chimney fires. 7. **Peace of Mind**: Provides assurance to users about the reduction of chimney soot and potential creosote fires. 8. **Positive Professional Feedback**: Even professionals who maintain fireplaces recommend it, highlighting its effectiveness. 9. **Quality Packaging**: Typically arrives in good shape, although there can be occasional mishaps. 10. **Fluffy Creosote Removal**: Users experience significant amounts of creosote being removed, enhancing the safety of ongoing fireplace use. **Disadvantages** 1. **Packaging Issues**: Some users report leakage or open lids upon delivery, resulting in a messy experience. 2. **Odor**: The product has an unpleasant smell that might require caution, like holding one's breath during application. 3. **Expensive for Quantity**: Despite effectiveness, some users find the product expensive for its size. 4. **Inconsistent Results**: Some users are unsure if it genuinely prevents chimney fires, questioning its effectiveness. 5. **Need for Frequent Use**: Recommended usage after every 8-10 fires might feel frequent for some users. 6. **Potential Cleanup Mess**: Needs careful handling during application to avoid creating a dusty environment. 7. **Placement Messy**: Without a plastic measure, applying the correct amount could get messy. 8. **Not Rust Effective**: While effective for many surfaces, it did not remove rust from grout as expected. 9. **Reliability Doubts**: Some users express uncertainty about whether it genuinely works or acts as a placebo. 10. **Delivery Mishaps**: Recurring issues with packaging during shipment need addressing for a better customer experience. **Conclusion** Meeco's Red Devil 2 LB Powdered Creosote Remover generally comes highly recommended for its primary function: safe and effective creosote removal. Despite some concerns over packaging and cost, its benefits, especially in enhancing chimney safety and cleanliness, are valued by users. It acts as a preventative measure against potential hazards, offering peace of mind for homeowners who rely on fireplaces and wood stoves. Nevertheless, users are advised to keep the packaging issues in mind and use it as directed for best results. **FAQ** 1. **How often should I use Meeco's Red Devil Creosote Remover?** - It is recommended to use the product after every 8-10 fires for optimal results. 2. **Is this product suitable for all fireplace types?** - Yes, it can be used with various fireplaces and wood stoves, including traditional log burners and more modern installations. 3. **Can Meeco's Red Devil be used to clean other surfaces besides chimneys?** - While primarily for chimney use, it is also effective in cleaning smoke-stained granite, stone, and greasy cabinets. 4. **Does this product have any odor?** - Yes, users report a kerosene-like odor, so it's advisable to handle it with caution. 5. **What quantity is needed for each use?** - Only a small amount is required per use, making it economical over time. 6. **Is the packaging reliable?** - While most orders arrive in good shape, there are occasional reports of leakage, suggesting an improvement in seal quality would help. 7. **Does it prevent rust removal in shower stalls?** - Though effective on tiles, it may not remove rust from grout as effectively. 8. **Does using the product guarantee the safety from chimney fires?** - It significantly reduces creosote buildup, which is a fire hazard, but no product guarantees absolute prevention. 9. **Is there any special tool needed for application?** - A scoop for placing the powder in the fireplace is helpful but not included, which some users find inconvenient. 10. **What is the price-value perception of this product?** - Some users find it expensive given its size, but its effectiveness might justify the cost for regular users concerned with safety.

Title: full review before chimney cleaning...wow
Content: As others have mentioned for the price should include a plastic measure for putting in fireplace, I just used the one from Rutland cleaner. After using the Rutland brand last year it was notable the amount of creosote that flaked off when I brushed the chimney so these cleaners do have a positive effect. The Red Devil I decided to try as a 2 lb can and will provide a more inclusive overall review after my first Jan cleaning. I burn firewood from October to April. The material itself is interesting compared to Rutland as does look like garage sweepings with a slight kerosene odor. We will see after the first sweep in a few months. 9/23/2023 update....I decided to clean the chimney today and the amount of fluffy creosote at the bottom of the flue was amazing, so much that I will be removing the bottom pipe more often....this stuff really works.

Title: It Works
Content: My fireplace guys swear by this even though it means less business for them. I was skeptical, but tried it anyway since chimney fires are far too common in this part of the country. I used it every 8-10 fires last winter and the stove looks cleaner than when I started the season. It doesn't smell great so hold your breath when you scoop it into the fire. Otherwise it arrived in good shape and does what it says.

Content: The product works well and surprised to see the small amounts needed per use. Will continue to use it in the future bet the packaging doesn’t control leakage. I open it inside my stove so not to have a dusty mess in my house.

Title: Great Stuff!!
Content: I purchased this for cleaning my fireplace "wall" that was granite and stone. The former owner was a chain smoker and between the cigarette smoke and wood stove, the white granite had turned to an ugly brown and/or orange color. This stuff was amazing! I then tried several applications, which all worked when nothing else had! Wood cabinets, it removed the grease and grime. In my shower stall there was rust from the well water. While it did not remove the rust in the grout, it cleaned the tiles fairly well. Great product!

Title: Makes one think they are taking good care of the chimney.
Content: In my entire adult life in which I've owned homes with wood fireplaces, I've never had a chimney fire or even suspect I've been close to one. But it seems to be best practice to wring one's hands over the possiblity that the dread scurge, CREOSOTE, will someday decide to awaken from its dormancy and burn my house down. So I bought this tub o' stuff to take care of it. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't... who's to say? I have no idea if this is a good purchase or not. It might have saved my house from burning to the ground or maybe it is just a good placebo. It isn't too expensive, so I guess it's cheap insurance if it works and if it doesn't then I'm not throwing too much cash into the firebox.

Content: I can't tell you 100 percent how well this worked I have only used 1 so far. It did give me piece of mind and was very easy to use. It seemed like the creosote in my stove pipe broke up easier after using this though. I have a very old wood burning stove and stove pipe.

Title: poor shipping container
Content: This is my 2nd order. I would have given it 4 to 5 stars but when container arrived lid on container was open and half of the contents in container fell out of the container in a plastic bag and made a big mess. Product itself is effective burning off creosote from flue. Vendor needs to improve container seal to avoid leakage during shipment to give better rating
