Yes, it is made of pressed wood. I’m traditionally a fan of investing in real wood, but this desk still looks sharp without spending $500 - $1000 more to get a real wood desk for a child. All of the desk parts were in good condition after shipping, no splits, cracks, or defects. The assembly instructions were good and everything was in the right order (I have put together similar types of furniture before and had the experience in the past where the instructions were not in the right order and we missed a key step which was not the case with this desk). It was surprisingly sturdy once constructed. The storage areas on the left are cabinets, not drawers, but the cabinet doors are nice quality and work better than I anticipated. The center drawer went together more easily than I expected. Overall I am really pleased with this desk for the price. Content: This desk is going to work okay for my daughter who is almost 6. She fits perfectly in it. so a little younger and the kid might be a tad too little for it and on the flip side too big if older. My daughter is always around the 50 percentile so I would say that she is average sized. She could probably fit into it until maybe 7 or 8. My nephews at 8 and short for their size. They fit okay. Not great but okay. Now here's where they lose a star. This thing is really flimsy. Usually, I put together our MDF products but this time my husband put it together.......which I regretted a couple days later when I went to check it out. The first thing I did was pull open the drawer to put a pencil inside and the whole front end of the drawer came off. It attaches with those metal inserts that you are supposed to turn with a screwdriver once the other end is inserted. I think my husband turned them all the wrong direction because none of them were in place and I almost pulled the whole top off it. The whole thing attaches with those things so just be aware. I know that MDF is thin and nothing like having a legit wood piece of furniture but having a lot of MDF furniture throughout the years and even while I was growing up, I just felt like this was thinner and flimsier than usual. I think my 6 year old will be okay but if an adult were to attempt to use it, I think I would be concerned.

I will still keep my eye on the chair. My 7 year old loves it! It’s a perfect size desk for her and i love that it’s not big and bulky. We were able to stick it into a corner and it fit perfectly. I am satisfied with the desks dm chair set overall. I would recommend it. Besides it’s hard to find desk anywhere since a lot of kids will be doing virtual learning. UPDATE!! 2nd day of school and the chair broke! Uhhm literally the second day of using this chair! 2 years later: The desk is still in good condition, we were able to fix the chair with some wood glue it held up for a while, it broke some time earlier this year and couldn’t be fixed again. Overall good product. I would still purchase again if I had to.

I want to say that I was downright angry at the negatives said about this desk once it was assembled. It is sturdy, has ample storage space and a great design. I nearly missed out on the perfect purchase if I hadn’t taken the risk and bought it. My daughter is seven (and she’s tall for her age). This desk fits her perfectly. It isn’t just for tiny toddlers. Yes, it is made of pressed wood. I’m traditionally a fan of investing in real wood, but this desk still looks sharp without spending $500 - $1000 more to get a real wood desk for a child. (Yes, we did price similar desks at mid to high-end retail stores. That was the price jump in case you need “real wood.”) My daughter isn’t CEO of a company (yet) and doesn’t need luxury furniture to impress clients. Content: This desk is going to work okay for my daughter who is almost 6. She fits perfectly in it. so a little younger and the kid might be a tad too little for it and on the flip side too big if older. My daughter is always around the 50 percentile so I would say that she is average sized. She could probably fit into it until maybe 7 or 8. My nephews at 8 and short for their size. They fit okay. Not great but okay. Now here's where they lose a star. This thing is really flimsy. Usually, I put together our MDF products but this time my husband put it together.......which I regretted a couple days later when I went to check it out. The first thing I did was pull open the drawer to put a pencil inside and the whole front end of the drawer came off. It attaches with those metal inserts that you are supposed to turn with a screwdriver once the other end is inserted. I think my husband turned them all the wrong direction because none of them were in place and I almost pulled the whole top off it. The whole thing attaches with those things so just be aware. I know that MDF is thin and nothing like having a legit wood piece of furniture but having a lot of MDF furniture throughout the years and even while I was growing up, I just felt like this was thinner and flimsier than usual. I think my 6 year old will be okay but if an adult were to attempt to use it, I think I would be concerned.

Usually, I put together our MDF products but this time my husband put it together.......which I regretted a couple days later when I went to check it out. The first thing I did was pull open the drawer to put a pencil inside and the whole front end of the drawer came off. It attaches with those metal inserts that you are supposed to turn with a screwdriver once the other end is inserted. I think my husband turned them all the wrong direction because none of them were in place and I almost pulled the whole top off it. The whole thing attaches with those things so just be aware. I know that MDF is thin and nothing like having a legit wood piece of furniture but having a lot of MDF furniture throughout the years and even while I was growing up, I just felt like this was thinner and flimsier than usual. I think my 6 year old will be okay but if an adult were to attempt to use it, I think I would be concerned.

I will still keep my eye on the chair. My 7 year old loves it! It’s a perfect size desk for her and i love that it’s not big and bulky. We were able to stick it into a corner and it fit perfectly. I am satisfied with the desks dm chair set overall. I would recommend it. Besides it’s hard to find desk anywhere since a lot of kids will be doing virtual learning. UPDATE!! 2nd day of school and the chair broke! Uhhm literally the second day of using this chair! 2 years later: The desk is still in good condition, we were able to fix the chair with some wood glue it held up for a while, it broke some time earlier this year and couldn’t be fixed again. Overall good product. I would still purchase again if I had to.

I want to say that I was downright angry at the negatives said about this desk once it was assembled. It is sturdy, has ample storage space and a great design. I nearly missed out on the perfect purchase if I hadn’t taken the risk and bought it. My daughter is seven (and she’s tall for her age). This desk fits her perfectly. It isn’t just for tiny toddlers. Yes, it is made of pressed wood. I’m traditionally a fan of investing in real wood, but this desk still looks sharp without spending $500 - $1000 more to get a real wood desk for a child. (Yes, we did price similar desks at mid to high-end retail stores. That was the price jump in case you need “real wood.”) My daughter isn’t CEO of a company (yet) and doesn’t need luxury furniture to impress clients. She needed a cute desk that was sturdy and allowed her to store her school work and study without distraction. This desk won hands down. If you have reasonable expectations and like this design, buy this desk. It was assembled in less than an hour and everything arrived in perfect condition. I could not be happier with this purchase. My little girl adores it.

The pieces were all labeled clearly, and the pack of screws/nuts/etc was clearly labeled and well organized. There were extra parts included in this pack but we did not need any extra parts. All of the desk parts were in good condition after shipping, no splits, cracks, or defects. The assembly instructions were good and everything was in the right order (I have put together similar types of furniture before and had the experience in the past where the instructions were not in the right order and we missed a key step which was not the case with this desk). It was surprisingly sturdy once constructed. The storage areas on the left are cabinets, not drawers, but the cabinet doors are nice quality and work better than I anticipated. The center drawer went together more easily than I expected. Overall I am really pleased with this desk for the price. The chair seems sturdy and we have had no issues yet with the chair (other reviews/pictures showed broken chairs). The hardware used to put on the chair legs seem wide enough and long enough to appropriately secure the legs to the chair.

She fits perfectly in it. so a little younger and the kid might be a tad too little for it and on the flip side too big if older. My daughter is always around the 50 percentile so I would say that she is average sized. She could probably fit into it until maybe 7 or 8. My nephews at 8 and short for their size. They fit okay. Not great but okay. Now here's where they lose a star. This thing is really flimsy.
