Content: This is the 3rd drain cover I've tried and it is the best one! I think my search is over. My drain has a X shaped cross bar in it but this drain cover still sits down in the drain all the way and the edge is flush against the bottom of the tub. All the hair does get caught around the silicone center piece and is easy to remove just like the instructions show - remove the center piece, pull off the hair and you're good to go. The best part is that even with all the hair stuck in the center piece, the rest of the drain is still clear so you can shower without it backing up. My previous drain cover caught the hair but was annoying to clean and would back up after 2 days requiring clearning. This one collected a weeks worth of hair and was still draining fine. One caveat is that when I first turn the water on and its coming out of the spout, it doesn't drain as quickly and will start to fill the bottom of the tub until I turn on the shower head. Not a big deal, only pertains to when the water takes a minute to warm up. Otherwise, very happy with this drain cover.

I ended up pulling a foot-long clump of hair and who knows what, that had completely plugged the drain. This unit doesn't screw to the shower floor, but merely rests in the slot where the old drain cover went. Even though it has similar holes as the original, the removable rubber insert actually catches ALL the hair. Merely remove it and you'll find the hair wrapped around it and easily disgarded. I also like the fact that the entire unit can be lifted up without the need for a screwdriver, so you can look at the drain itself, if need be.
