Content: Fits in the fireplace well, good solid construction and extremely easy to assemble the two sides. This is replacing the very old grate that fell apart, so the quick delivery was a big help The grate is doing very well holding up the oak we burn and the heat dose not affect the grate at all. Content: Sometimes reviewers write wildly random things or say nothing useful at all. Sometimes they write the kind of review that is detailed, accurate, and thoughtful, like the one by "NO BULL REVIEWS" (NBR). This fireplace grate has a collection of all kinds of reviews. Let me take a stab at it. First, you should read NBR's review titled "Questionable design" with 3 stars and then consider a couple of my qualifying comments. NBR points out the 3/4" vs 1/2" bar width discrepancy and the bolting together issue. Their technical comments are accurate, and the product description fails to mention these things, but they are shown in the images, so no actual misrepresentation. Fair comments, though, because everybody hates misleading marketing! Also, the narrative states this is suitable for decorative fireplaces, etc, and so NBR's pretty robust use of the product might exceed the intended use. Again, fair enough, but my application will be in a condo fireplace normally used for ambiance fires. So, evaluate your application and judge accordingly. I find the bolt-together option a distraction. Here's why: it isn't even necessary. This product comes as essentially two grates that will each stand alone such that they can be placed next to each other without bolts and no harm to the look or strength of the grates. In fact, my fireplace narrows toward the back and I cannot put both inside. The picture below shows that I have one, and for me that works. The other one I guess I'll give to a neighbor. (No, I didn't measure before I ordered, and yes, my fireplace needs to be cleaned!) Additionally, the individual grates are 12" by 12". Not 7.7" as one reviewer stated, therefore plenty big enough for more than one piece of wood, unless you really intend to burn 12 inch diameter logs in your "decorative" fireplace! NBR's point about the welds is accurate and worth considering if you intend a more robust use for this grate. It seems reasonable to my non-engineer mind that a weld between two 1/2" bars cannot be as strong as the bars themselves if the weld area is dimensionally smaller than the bars themselves. Yet, my old-man-experienced mind tells me that for my intended use, they should be fine. These are overall well made and solid enough for my needs that I give them 5 stars. But NBR's 3 stars is also reasonable. Judge your application appropriately! I usually take value into consideration. In other words, an overpriced product might be very good but not worth the asking price. That drops the rating, in my opinion. I'm not sure these are worth 50 bucks. "Not sure" being the operative words.

Content: We have a large rural home heated by wood 24/7, six months a year. We have a large wood stove and fireplace with a blower unit; this item was for the fireplace. With this much wood burning, any grate system will have to endure intense heat for months without breaking down. Some areas of concern: - The unit was described as having "3/4" bars: This one is also technically correct, but in my opinion, it is misleading and doesn't follow industry standards. According to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ATSM) Standard A-513, "Square & Rectangular Tolerances" square steel and metal bars and square tubes are measured by the outside linear dimension, in this case, the length of one side and not across outside opposite corners (diagonal). My measurements (see photo 1) show sides that are 13.6mm or 1/2" and a diagonal of 19.2mm (3/4"). The listing discloses the measurement on the diagonal, but most consumers would reasonably expect the bars to be 3/4 per side, following the industry standard. Quality Issues: - The pictures in the listing show solid and closed weld points between leg attachment points. In photo #2, the weld joints are only on two face sides of the bars, and the weld joints are not solid; light can be seen between the two sides and the weld joint on almost every weld point. As this unit will be subject to constant heat and flame, the gap will allow heat to penetrate the hole and weaken the joint. - The unit comes in two pieces that bolt together; this is not disclosed. The bolts that hold the two grates together are not marked as hardened for heat and tensile strength. Typically, bolts in high heat or direct flame environments are tested IAW ASTM F606 and carry a grading mark. If the bolts used are generic, they will likely break down and shorten the product's life.

Content: So easy to assemble by attaching on 2 screws with a couple of wrenches in which both are included. I found it amazing that such a nice product didn't require hours of assembly! These are fairly heavy which are sturdy and should hold up to vigorous use and heat. I have a little larger fireplace than most and this is a good size for that. I found the price very reasonable for a product built to last and this surely will. Haven't built this years fire in the fireplace but I'm excited that I'll be able to do that soon. This came in two pieces that were very easy to put together!

Content: Disappointed upon opening the box...the product is not heavy-duty by any means...we would be lucky to get through one winter before it falls apart. The "log area" is very narrow, so maybe one or 2 smaller pieces of split wood would fit on it. It is not very heavy and it screws together. We will probably sell it on Marketplace because I doubt that the the screws holding the 2 pieces together will last long before they burn through. It is also NOT 30.5" side...it is 29" when put together. Won't buy this again and will end up going to a fireplace store to buy one that will will last. Our original one is very hard for me to lift, this weighs only a few pounds and a child (or older lady like me) could pick it up. READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BUY THIS ITEM!!
