While some users have reported concerns such as size issues and sagging under heat, others praise its efficient ember retention and overall sturdy design. Ensure proper measurements and consider the anticipated fireplace use to make the best decision when choosing this fireplace grate. ### FAQ 1. **How does the ember retainer work?** - The ember retainer is designed to hold burning embers close to the logs, enhancing heat and ensuring complete fuel usage. 2. **What is the weight capacity of this grate?** - While users report it can hold several logs, safety depends on log size and distribution. It's best used with moderate log loads to avoid sagging. 3. **Can this grate withstand high temperatures?** - While constructed for average fireplace use, there have been cases of deformation under extremely high temperatures. Proper monitoring is advised. 4. **Is this grate easy to install?** - Yes, the grate comes fully assembled, so you can place it into your fireplace right out of the box. 5. **What should I do if my grate rocks?** - Adjustments may be needed, such as minor leg modification, to correct any rocking issues. 6. **Are there different sizes available?** - Yes, sizes range from 18" to 24", so it’s essential to measure your fireplace first for the perfect fit. 7. **What if the grate doesn't fit my fireplace?** - Verify your fireplace dimensions before purchase, as returning the grate could incur shipping costs. 8. **Does Pleasant Hearth have a return policy?** - Returns might be possible, but any freight charges may be your responsibility depending on the seller’s policy. 9. **Will it damage my fireplace?** - No reported structural damage to fireplaces, though ensure no sagging wood comes in direct contact with the fireplace floor. 10. **Is the product available globally?** - Availability might vary, hence checking with local distributors or online retailers is recommended.

Title: Great Quality at an Awesome Price
Content: I recently replaced the fire grate with "Pleasant Hearth - 1/2 Solid Steel..." and it is working great; the cinder retention system allows for better and more efficient burning of firewood.

Title: Great product
Content: Smaller than I thought it would be, but it’s my fault I didn’t measure anything. The mesh holds my kindling and lighting fires is so much easier. Solid product. Just make sure you measure your fireplace to be sure it fits and it’s not too small.

Title: nice insert for fireplace
Content: I had my chimney liner and insert redone, which left my fireplace much smaller, unfortunately. I used to have a large fireback with basket for the wood that no longer fit after the remodel/repair. This grate fits and allows enough air to keep the wood burning and hold a few good size logs easily.

Title: Nice Fireplace Grate!
Content: Nice Fireplace Grate! Size represents the widest part of the base, (front legs). The depth is 11" which is the steel log cradle bars. I first ordered the 21" but then got the 24". See the photo. The 21" on the left, 24" on the right. I would definitely get the largest that would fit in your fireplace. The 24" struggles to hold 3 logs securely, especially when you're stoking the fire and moving hot logs around. After a few dozen fires it's holding up well, no sagging across the base. Love having the grate to hold the hot coals up against the logs. Mine came with a slight rocking since the feet weren't perfectly level, maybe 1/2" off. The clearance under the base is 3-1/2" which was more than I liked so I put a metal blade in my grinder and took off about an inch off each leg. That keeps the gas pipe flames closer to the logs and the overall fire lower in my smallish fireplace. Oh, and eliminated the rocking. 4 star for the rocking and lack of specific size specifications from the manufacturer. Had to pay shipping to return the first one. Otherwise great product for the price.

Title: Right Tool for the Job
Content: So I originally ordered the 3/4" thick 18" version of this hearth without the mesh interior and sadly did not make it home without cracking one cradle arm off. But what I did find was that with the 18" size, the 3/4" bars are extreme over kill. I mean it fit in the hearth but dear Lord did it exaggerate it's size with those larger bars. So this 1/2" version was ordered while shipping the other back. Once the 1/2" came in I knew I'd chosen wisely the second time around. To describe it as a jack stand, you don't need an 8 ton dual locking jack stand to work under your Civic. I mean it'll do the job but wow dragging that 30lbs monster around gets annoying And you can't just jack the one tire up to use it, you have to jack up the whole side of the car cause it's so dang tall! And right tool for the job really comes to mind with the 1/2" compared to the 3/4" Steel Fireplace Hearth in the 18" size. I mean, it can do it but do I really want deal with all the extra headache involved? This drunken review provided by Paul Masson Brandy, neat. Additional lighting provided by one LED based MagLight, sitting on an Xbox controller.

Title: Does not withstand high temp. It melts
Content: The media could not be loaded. After only a few dozen fires in the fireplace, it has melted and bode in the middle. Apparently cannot stand high temperatures, so it’s kind of a waste of time and money to buy this

Content: So very happy with this grate! Most of all I didn’t have to put it together and it’s well made! It’s a nice weight and is perfect for my hearth. This is not a great picture but just wanted to show how big the opening is.

Title: Great product
Content: Smaller than I thought it would be, but it’s my fault I didn’t measure anything. The mesh holds my kindling and lighting fires is so much easier. Solid product. Just make sure you measure your fireplace to be sure it fits and it’s not too small.
