Title: Beautiful, easy to install, and worth every penny!!!!
Content: I have had a gas fireplace for over 10 years with just the slate around the exterior. I kept saying over and over that I wanted a mantel to decorate or hang stockings on for the holiday season, yet never got around to getting one. Every year the prices were either too high or I worried about quality and the difficulty of hanging. I finally made this purchase and I cannot tell you how happy I am that I did. The price was far cheaper than any of its competitors AND the quality has blown me away! The mantel arrived in perfect condition and wrapped well for protection during transit. The box contained everything you need with the exception of screws and/ or fasteners as per the surface requirements (completely understandable). I hung it above the slate surround on sheet rock and secured the included wood hanger bar with three 8x2” screws into the studs. This worked perfect and was incredibly easy. As long as you take a few minutes to plan exactly where you want to place your mantel and use a level on the hanger bar this is an extremely easy product to install. You have the option to hang the shelf with or without the corbels (both options looked great). I hope this review helps you if you are on the fence about purchasing it. There are no regrets here and can’t wait to decorate it this holiday season!!

Content: This is a well made and very nice mantel. We had replaced our fireplace insert with a new one and I decided to get a newer nicer mantel and this was perfect. The wife gives it a 10 out of 10. The Installation was easy and straight forward. I do wish that it came with the bolts to mount, but it was simple enough to run to hardware store and get a few. I my only negative was not with what I received , but that there is a such a price disparity between the colors. But again I am extremely happy with what I got and give it 10 out of 10 myself.

Content: I have been looking for a mantle a while now and decided to pull the trigger on this, so glad I did. I ordered it unfinished because I wanted my wife to have her choice of stain color. I sanded three times with 120, 220, and 360 grit. After sanding I wiped over the surface with a damp cloth to raise the grain . I then applied 2 coats of conditioner and let it sit for a day. For the stain I applied two coats, let it dry thoroughly then applied two coats of satin polyurethane (I sanded between coats of poly). The finish came out better than I expected on pine wood. I know it looks great on the wall so figured I'd send a few shots of "the process" after the poly was applied. Although the distress in the wood is manufactured, I think it still looks great. There are still some odd imperfections, but I'm comfortable with them.

Content: We are in the midst of remodeling our fireplace and searched for a rustic looking mantel but the prices were crazy high, until I found this one. The color is good and neutral. It shipped pretty quickly, the packaging as great, no damages upon arrival. It comes with the corbels which we chose not to use. Installation was simple and everything we needed was included. It looks solid and rustic like we wanted, but is lightweight and still feels sturdy. It leaned away from the wall at the top once installed, maybe because we didn't use the corbels, but it was easily remedied with some wood shims inserted along the bottom. I don't love the white 'pearl' dot on the side of it, it faces out into my room and looks like a mistake at a glance, but I think I can paint over it to make it blend away. I am very pleased with this mantel and would buy from Pearl again given the need.

Content: The mantel was a bit more orange than we wanted so we used a chemical stripper and sander to remove the original finish (The unfinished version was out of stock or we would have ordered that one). The new stain took very well and it turned out really nice. The installation was easy, and we added 2 screws on the top near the edge to better secure it to the mounting bracket. We installed the mantel before the rock stone which I would definitely recommend if you are able to do so (appears as it’s coming out of the stone). Overall a great mantel for a good price!
