Title: Fantastic Tool to Clean Dryer Vent
Content: We've had trouble getting close to dry for quite some time now and even put up a clothesline outside. I knew it wasn't the dryer and had tried to clean out the vent multiple times with no luck. I decided to look for something else and ran across this tool. Man does it work well. I started getting piles of lint right away. My dryer vent is about 20 feet long and on the second floor of our home so I wasn't too keen on being on the ladder. This tool worked so well at getting the piles of lint out that it made it "easy". Well, not easy, but tolerable. It really pulls the clumps out and will burrow through the ones that were very dense. Some of the clumps looked more like stuffed animals than lint. It's probably been that way for many years. The tool is easy to use with a battery-powered drill. Just keep adding the sections which are very sturdy but also very flexible. I was worried they would either be too flexible or not flexible enough. They were perfect. It took my wife and I 30-45 minutes to clean out the entire 20+ feet by working the brush in and out . I would recommend this to anyone needing to do the same job. What a lifesaver.

The water hose was flexible and thick enough to push the brush back down the vent. My husband also cleaned the dryer sensors since he was already working on the dryer. Content: In the past I’ve cleaned my dryer vent by disassembling all the rigid sections and cleaning them with a 4-foot brush. That was a very complicated job. I have a 16-foot vent run with two 90 degree turns, this vent cleaning kit worked exactly as promised. I worked from the outside, removing the exhaust hood / flapper. I turned on the dryer set to no-heat so any loosened lint would blow out. I assembled about the first ten feet and fed it into the vent by hand, no drill attached. It appeared to get a bit stuck on the second bend, but attaching the drill easily worked it past that area. Once the brush was all the way through to the dryer I slowly worked it back out while engaging the drill so the brush head would scour the insides of the vent. A slight in-and-out motion worked well. I was able to pull the entire 16 feet out with the drill still turned on. Everything went smoothly. I did apply a light grease to the threaded portion or each section as they were added, and I used two pair of pliers to loosen each section when done. The whole process took about a half-hour, should be even faster next year, now that I know how to do it. One note: I have two large radius 90 degree elbows in my vent run, they’re a much more gradual turn than the usual short and sharp turn elbows you’ll find at the home improvement stores. These elbows were expensive, but I’m glad I installed them, as they probably made it much easier to snake the vent cleaner. Also, my entire vent run is rigid pipe, no cheap plastic or accordion metal, which tend to trap lots of lint. Tips: I snaked-in the brush by hand as far as possible before using the drill, attaching a few sections at a time. Make sure the drill is turning clockwise, or you’ll unscrew the sections inside the vent! Keep running the drill as you pull the brush out to get any remaining lint off the insides of the vent pipes.
