Introduction

The Magic Splash Guard Kit is designed as a simple solution to a common problem—keeping water from splashing out of the bath or shower. With its compact design and straightforward application, the Splash Guard aims to keep bathroom floors dry and safe.

Advantages

  • Compact size, making it suitable for smaller bathrooms.
  • Ideal for households with children to contain water within the tub area.
  • Can be functional after applying additional measures, like caulk, to fix design flaws.
  • Offers a solution to reduce water damage on floors and prevent water from seeping to lower levels.
  • Flexibility to match out-of-square walls, although it may require additional sealing.
  • Simple and self-explanatory to use.
  • Potentially effective when supplemented with a significant amount of caulk.
  • Can be a creative challenge for those willing to experiment with alternative solutions.
  • May work well in keeping the shower curtain in place and preventing water from spilling onto the floor.
  • Generally performs its intended function well once properly installed with extra material.

Disadvantages

  • Does not fit correctly on tubs with non-standard angles, leading to water leakage.
  • The included sticky tape is weak and may fail to secure the guard in place.
  • Inflexible design that doesn't accommodate for walls and tubs that are not at a strict 90-degree angle.
  • Requires caulking to prevent water leaking, which adds extra steps to installation.
  • Integrated shower curtain clip is deemed useless by some users.
  • May accumulate unwanted debris like pet hair in the adhesive part.
  • Considered unsightly by some customers.
  • Leaves a gap in the corner where water can escape unless sealed properly.
  • Some customers deemed their purchase wasteful as they resorted to different, more expensive solutions.
  • Designed contrary to some users' expectations, leading to workaround installations.

Conclusion

The Magic Splash Guard Kit can offer a workable solution to preventing water from splashing out of the bath or shower, but it might come with a need for additional adjustments. For those willing to put in the extra effort of caulking and sealing, it can be a fitting choice, particularly for smaller bathroom spaces. However, the product’s performance may vary based on the context of installation and can be seen as unattractive or tedious to some users.

Title: Good but small
Content: Good little guards , and they are little. 7" tall x 6" long.

Title: Doesn’t fit or hold to both sides. Waste of money.
Content: We got this to keep water in the tub when the kids take showers, but it doesn’t fit correctly on the tub. The sticky tape isn’t very strong and the shape of the guard isn’t flexible, so unless the corner of your tub is exactly the same angle (less than 90), it will only stick to the wall OR the edge of the tub. Not both. Water sprays through the opening and it falls off easily. Literally never worked.

Title: Serious design flaws, caulk is needed
Content: If you expect to install these as-is, you will likely have problems. The first major problem is that they are at a pretty tight 90* angle - which unless you have a strict 90* angle in your shower, they won’t fit well. Because of this, you will want to caulk around it, otherwise it will leak water like a sieve. The second major problem is with the foam tape on the bottom and back mounting surfaces. On one hand, it’s helpful to hold it in place while you caulk. On the other hand, it runs the length of the mounting surfaces so it’s difficult to place them where you want them. The tape is quite sticky, so don’t plan on repositioning them without tearing out the tape and leaving foam and glue residue behind. The third problem with these is that there is a little hole actually built into the design at the bottom where the back and bottom intersect. So when you’re caulking around the edges, you should fill that in as well. The last problem I see with these is with the shower curtain clip - it’s completely useless. It is cut out from the back mounting surface and has its own strip of foam tape. The result is a clip that kind of operates somewhat independently of the splash guard, but not enough so that if you actually use it, the foam tape tries to pull up from the wall and leaks from the back (if you didn’t caulk). So I found its best to just not use the clip and caulk around it. In summary, these are actually pretty crappy. But I’ve bought a couple sets for different tub/showers solely because of the size. As I looked for other solutions, I couldn’t find anything that met my wants - they were generally too big or too tall (or both). So, for my wants, these are the right size - I’ve just learned that I have to use a good amount of caulk to mitigate the design and construction flaws. For me, that was worth it as they work well after having plugged all the holes with good shower silicone caulk. Overall rating is 3 stars because they work fine after you have used caulk to fix the design flaws.

Title: Needs caulk
Content: It works for what I needed, but it definitely wouldn't have if I hadn't read the reviews beforehand and didn't have silicone caulk ready to use when I installed it. The double-sided tape is really weak and, for some reason, stuck well to the tiles on my wall but just would not stick to the bathtub at all. It also has a hole in the corner for some reason, which I had to fill with caulk, otherwise the water would just escape through it anyways. Besides that, it is designed in a way that the bigger part is supposed to be on the fall for some reason, which for the life of me I can't understand, since water pools horizontally on the bathtub itself, not vertically on the walls. So I had to use it in a different manner from which it was intended to be used, which rendered the curtain clip completely useless. All in all, it has solved my problems, but only because I used it in a completely different way from how it was meant to be used, and installed it with extra stuff that doesn't come included in the box. I guess any chunk of plastic would've been enough to fix the issue that I had and this was the chunk that I found.

Title: Does the job right
Content: Perfect for what we needed. Keeps the water in the tub and out of the basement (by way of getting on the tile and seeping through the flooring's older grout.) I was getting tired of cleaning up the floor in the bathroom and hallway because 'some people' (usually the kids) don't understand how a shower curtain liner works or they are wild in the bathtub sinking battleships and such... I don't think that the clip the manufacturer has on the inside of the guard does much good holding the liner in place because it's set in about an inch away from the shower wall, and would still let the water go out but at a higher point on the wall. It's no big deal, I just don't use it personally. YMMV I would suggest a little bit of caulk (kitchen and bath or something like that) to close off the corner after you have the adhesive doing its job. The flexibility for matching out of square walls is a great benefit of this splash guard, but it does come with a cost of leaving a small opening for water to sneak out in the corner. It certainly doesn't take much caulk to close that up, but you'll thank me for it later!

Title: Not that great
Content: These are easy to use, pretty self explanatory but really don't help much. water goes under them, there is dog hair stuck in the adhesive no matter how hard I try and clean, they are just kind of unsightly and I will probably remove them next time I scrub the tub.

Title: I Will work
Content: The media could not be loaded. You will have to use a Generous amount of clear caulk , u could use white 👍 Load it up and Softly place into position. Shape the edged with a wet finger, let dry 12 hrs🎉

Title: Not solid, not adhesive, not a good solution.
Content: I was not surprised the adhesive did not last, of course you need to use silicone, but there is a gap in the corner that required sealing. I needed something to stop water leaking out at the corner. Why would you leave a hole at the corner? There are many better solutions. I ended up using Sugru moldable glue to create a water dam near the corner of my tub, but Sugru is expensive. I tested the design and placement with poster adhesive putty before using the semi-permanent glue. You could test with clay or silly putty. I tried several designs before I found one that looked ok and worked. This product was just wasted money.
