Content: I've had my Real Flame fireplace for about 15 years and I still love it. These gel cans not only provide nice heat but they also crackle as though I am burning wood. Every once in a while I will get a slight smell of the gel but it's not strong or bothersome. I usually only burn one can to warm my larger than average size bedroom. Each can will burn for a few hours and if my bedroom temperature is at 66 degrees, one can will increase the bedroom temperature to 70 degrees. This means I don't have to heat the entire house when I'm home alone. I make sure I never run out.

Content: I live in a rental home in which the landlord had the gas line for the fireplace turned off. After reading the other reviews I decided to give this product a try. I am so glad I did! This pops and crackles just like a real fire! And the flames dance just as well too. I did have a problem with a strong smell at first but I shifted the ceramic logs around so the flames don't touch the logs and that solved the problem. Even though it is not the main heat source for the room it does put off a bit of heat making it 3-5 degrees warmer which will be great as we get into the colder days (my fireplace can hold up to 3 cans at a time). Each can has lasted me between 3.5-4 hours of steady burning and crackling. I would also suggested a 7 Scent Sampler of Natural Wood Incenses by Incensio de Santa Fe if like me, you miss the smell of burning wood. Overall an excellent product and Amazon has the best price with free shipping!

Content: Even though there IS a very slight odor when the flame starts to wind down (last 15 minutes) I am giving this product 5 STARS. Having been traumatized through 12 days with no heat last year as a result of Hurricane Sandy, this autumn we burn just one can every evening in our large living room and it adds warmth and a lot of good feeling. We had not used our woodburning fireplace in years because when it is cold out you have to open the flu and leave it open for a long time afterward and the whole house got cold. But with these delightful easy to use gel fuel cans we can have a warm, crackling, inviting fire every night. We look forward to it and it has definitely added to our quality of life. Nothing is perfect but this product comes very close to being so. As for the odor, we find that if we snuff out the can after 2 hours and ten minutes it helps a great deal to reduce it. Content: The main selling point of these is ease of use. When I'm too lazy or just lack the time to start a real fire, a few of these in the little outdoor fireplace (sadly discontinued) creates a enough ambiance with a few 'tiki touches' for us to enjoy some time on the patio. They are easy to light (so be careful). They burn 2~3 hours. I think you would need to be over top of it for any useful heat and even then, I think that's negligible. I usually use two at a time (our fireplace will hold three). IMHO they are not cheap, but the cost is in line with other similar options.

Content: Our heat source is a gel fuel fireplace. I have tried many brands of gel fuel and this brand is what I have bought for the past 10 years. If the directions are followed, the cans will burn between 3-4 hours, the heat it puts off is well enough to keep the frostbite at bay. We usually burn one can at a time but if the temperature outside drops below 35, then we burn 2 cans at the same time. There is an odor but it is only when the can is about to burn out and only lasts a minute or so. The odor is not overwhelming; think of it as an alert that you need to light another can.

Other than that, they produce good heat and flames, but not 3 hours. The vast majority of the cans I have go maximum 2.5 hours. They do produce beautiful flames to view from across the room and good heat if you're sitting closer to the gel fuel fireplace.
