When secured together, the 2 pieces become sturdy and no fears of them coming apart while moving a log. The grabber is brilliant and basically folds flat, but also has ample extension length so you don't singe your hands trying to move a log. The combination of the two is all you need! Easy 5 star product. I also like the wood handle on the poker - its a nice touch and feels good.

The wood tongs spread open into a zig zag to create a small footprint and the poker is in two pieces that go together based on the threaded insert. They are sturdy and have great weight to them. We chose these for a wood stove that was just added in a 1940’s 25x40 red block shop building. These tools will make it easy to stir the coals, move logs in the stove and just general fire tending. Along with the wood stove, it will be warmer to work on projects this winter. The price at the time of this review is $19.99. This price is a total steal of a deal. This is a 5 Star set even if priced at $29. I recommend these tools.

As the item you'd use to hold a heavier piece of wood, potentially on fire, I'd expect to be able to be able to use my entire hands strength to accomplish that... It may work well if you have much smaller hands than mine, but for me... Meh

The handle isn’t very comfortable. The fire poker is made up of two segments (for easier shipping) that are screwed together. The diameter of the poker is on the smaller side, making the poker have a weak point where the two parts are screwed together.
