Now that it's come back to bite me in the butt, this has been nice to help transition her. I wish there was a cover, since it is slightly weighted and I don't want to ruin my washer and dryer. It is machine washer safe, but I would suggest going to a laundry mat to do so. That's what I do with my own weighted blanket, which is heavier and larger. I chose gray, 1 because it went with her room and 2, will hide spills and messes easier. I can't remember if other color options were even available but it's a nice material that isn't super cottonie but not swishy. Soft and smooth to the touch.
