We had given up then he decided to check the back of the unit one more time before taking it completely apart. My dear husband had removed the blue cap but not the actual screw in plug the manufacture puts in it for protection during shipping. No, this man had the line scewed in with the plug in place. Once he removed the plug, he ran to the hardware store for one small adapter piece and now we have flame. It works perfect. Now I do have to tell ya'all something weird. I cannot smell the rotton egg smell the company puts in natural gas. That being said, I do smell something when this is on. It's not gas though, it smells wet. I purchased this way back in March of 2023. It arrived beat up but since it didn't appear to affect the functionality of the item we kept it. We tried all summer to get someone to do the plumbing for it. Everyone we called either refused or no showed, so we did it ourselves. It wasn't hard, we have a full basement. Then we couldn't get the unit to light. We got a new thermocoupler, we cleaned everything, we double and triple checked that we had gas in the line. We had given up then he decided to check the back of the unit one more time before taking it completely apart. My dear husband had removed the blue cap but not the actual screw in plug the manufacture puts in it for protection during shipping. No, this man had the line scewed in with the plug in place. Once he removed the plug, he ran to the hardware store for one small adapter piece and now we have flame. It works perfect. Now I do have to tell ya'all something weird. I cannot smell the rotton egg smell the company puts in natural gas. That being said, I do smell something when this is on. It's not gas though, it smells wet. Nothing I've read says anything about this so I am not concerned. It puts out a ton of heat, the thermostat works perfectly. I bought the blower for this item too and it's pretty quiet. Overall, in spite of the fact my husband didn't fully read the manual which clearly states the plug must be removed before use, I am pleased with this product.
