Content: We had a different brand and it stopped working. In the previous version the indoor and outdoor temperatures were the same size and right next to each other so it was harder to remember which one to look at for the outdoor temp (I know sometimes it's obvious because of the actual numbers, but sometimes not). With this new one the outdoor temp is larger and at the top, which I prefer. There are a few other items that show, which is nice. It's a small size, which is nice in that it's not too distracting in a room, but I wouldn't mind if it was a little larger. It's pretty easy to see when you are near it, not as much from across the room. It does have a light, all you need to do is touch the top, so really easy.

Accuracy is good and it updates quickly. the sensor and the monitor are within 50 feet of each other. Battery life is yet to be determined as it has been running for a little more than a week. Content: I've had probably a dozen different weather/thermometer/hygrometer/humidity stations over the years. I'm an outdoor enthusiast (sports and gardening) and knowing the temp and humidity each day is key for me. I previously had a LaCrosse forecast station with a color LCD screen which have me everything and then some. I found that I really didn't like it because it wasn't readable just by looking at it. You had to go over and actually push a button to get the backlight to show. It was also a very cluttered screen with tons of information I didn't necessarily need or want. I realized I wanted a simpler station that was easy to read at a glance. I got this temp monitor because it shows the outdoor and indoor temps, humidity and has an icon for the weather forecast that day. I can read it without turning on the backlight although the backlight is easier to turn on than the old one as you just touch the top front of the monitor and the backlight comes on. I've included two photos - one with the backlight on and one with it off. I have two other weather monitors in the house - one in my bedroom and one in the living room (yep, I'm a weather freak type of person :) This monitor recorded the same indoor/outdoor temperatures as the other two I have so it appears to be quite accurate. The setup was very simple. I put batteries in the monitor and the sensor and the two paired up with each other immediately with no intervention from me. Both need AAA batteries and there is no DC adapter. The monitor has one hole on the back for hanging but it also has a stand if you want to just set it somewhere. The sensor also has a hole on the back if you want to hang it but I've found that just laying it on the sash of my window outside under the eaves of the house is sufficient for good readings and generally protects it from weather. From my previous experience with outside sensors, make sure you set or hang it vertically. The sensors are not waterproof and if it's laying down, the sensor will get moisture inside the battery compartment, rust the connections and make the sensor useless. This is just how the sensors are - I've had a lot of them and it's just a universal thing with those. Overall, I'm much happier with the less is more approach of this temp monitor. It tells me what I need to know when I need to know it and it will probably last longer because it has less stuff to break :)

Content: This arrived in good condition, no flaws. When I put in the batteries (2AA, 3AAA) the sensor and weather station paired up immediately. It took a moment or two for the readings to stabilize but since then (a whole 24 hours) the readings have been accurate. The weather portion is representative of current conditions and the temperatures track. Right now the sensor is between the storm door and the entry door and we're in the middle of a polar vortex, so, yeah, it's 15 degrees F. I got this to monitor a vacant home. The plan is to put the sensor in the house and give the weather station to the awesome folks who live next door to keep an eye on the temp for me. The houses are a driveway apart and hopefully going through two exterior walls won't be a problem. We'll see. I'll update if it doesn't work. After we don't need it there, the plan is to use it for monitoring the winter garden I plan to build. It's early days but so far I'm happy. DH thinks it's cool so if it makes him smile I'm good. Edit: I put the sensor in the house and gave the weather station to the next door neighbors. The signal came though both exterior walls just fine. The houses in that area have a single width driveway and 3' of grass between them so it's way under the advertised range. But it works perfectly for them to see if the temp drops so we know to go over there to check things out to protect the pipes. Love the weather station and these people. Good neighbors are priceless.
