**Introduction** The 1970-2 Humidifier, 2-Quart Bacteriostatic Treatment, 2 Pack (1970-2) is designed to enhance the efficiency and longevity of your humidifier by preventing the growth of mold and bacteria. It offers an easy-to-use solution for maintaining clean and healthy air quality in your home, especially during the dry winter months when humidifier usage peaks. **Advantages** 1. **Efficient Bacteria Prevention**: Effectively prevents bacteria build-up, keeping the humidifier and air free from harmful microorganisms. 2. **Improved Air Quality**: Users report less sickness during winters due to cleaner air. 3. **Cost-Efficient**: A bottle can last a couple of years, making it economical, especially if utilized in a few units. 4. **Long-Lasting Humidifier Components**: Helps extend the life of wicks and interior parts by eliminating biofilms. 5. **Odorless**: Though it has a strong scent in the bottle, it doesn't impart any chemical odors when used correctly. 6. **Ease of Use**: Simple measurement and application processes make it user-friendly. 7. **Reduces Maintenance**: Cuts down the need for cleaning with bleach or other harsh chemicals. 8. **Versatile Application**: Works on various humidifier models, even with older units. 9. **Enhanced Humidifier Performance**: Keeps water and filters fresher for longer, optimizing humidifier performance. 10. **Reduces Household Dust**: Users notice a decrease in dust and water spots around their home. **Disadvantages** 1. **Cap Design Issues**: The cap design is poor, leading to potential breaking and exposure if tightened too much. 2. **Strong Scent**: While mostly unnoticeable when diluted correctly, the strong scent could be off-putting for some. 3. **Extensive Dilution Required**: Requires careful measurement to ensure proper dilution and effectiveness. 4. **Chemical Handling Precautions**: The warning label can be intimidating and necessitates careful handling. 5. **Bulk Purchase Requirement**: Packaging could be inconvenient as it comes in half-gallon sizes, necessitating long term storage. 6. **Potential Improper Use Consequences**: Incorrect dilution or packaging maintenance may lead to odors or inefficient results. 7. **Time Consuming for First-time Users**: New users may require time to understand the proper usage guidelines. 8. **Perceived High Initial Cost**: Although cost-effective long-term, the upfront cost for some users may seem high. 9. **Obsolete Cap Size**: Cap not appropriate for modern use standards leading to impractical handling. 10. **Inconsistency in Cap Manufacturing**: Users report that some caps do not match expected quality consistently. **Conclusion** The 1970-2 Humidifier Bacteriostatic Treatment is a reliable and cost-effective solution for maintaining a clean and healthy air environment with your humidifiers. Although it has its shortcomings, such as cap design flaws and handling precautions, the treatment's numerous advantages like efficient bacteria prevention, odorless operation, and reduced maintenance needs make it a valuable addition to humidifier upkeep. **FAQ** 1. *How does this product prevent bacteria buildup in humidifiers?* This treatment inhibits the growth of bacteria and mold in the water used by humidifiers, which prevents these contaminants from being dispersed into the air. 2. *Can this product be used in any humidifier?* Yes, it is versatile and works effectively with most humidifier models, including older units. 3. *Is there a noticeable smell when using this treatment?* When diluted properly, the product is essentially odorless. 4. *How often should I use this product in my humidifier?* It’s recommended to use it consistently every time you refill your humidifier to maintain optimal air quality and device performance. 5. *What quantity should I use for effective results?* The recommended dilution is 1/6 of an ounce per gallon of water, which roughly equates to one teaspoon. 6. *Are there any safety precautions while handling this product?* Like any chemical product, handle with care. Ensure it's properly diluted, avoid skin contact, and keep away from children and pets. 7. *How long does one bottle last?* When used correctly, one bottle could last several years for households with one or two humidifiers. 8. *Are there any side effects from using this treatment?* When used as directed, there are no known adverse effects, but improper use may result in chemical odors or less effective results. 9. *What should I do if the cap breaks?* If the cap breaks, promptly transfer the remaining liquid into a secure bottle with warning labels to ensure safe storage. 10. *Does this eliminate the need for regular humidifier cleaning?* While it reduces the frequency and intensity of cleaning, regular maintenance and periodic checks are still advisable to ensure maximum efficiency and safety.

Title: Works Great. A couple caveats.
Content: This stuff works great in a wick style humidifier. However, a couple caveats and pieces of advice. The directions say you need 1/6 of an oz per gallon of water. That's one teaspoon. We're talking about 5 ml. You can put more, but you don't need much. I eyeball a slight and short pour. One bottle can last you at least a couple years if you only have one or two humidifiers. Secondly, the cap is poorly designed. I've had two bottles and both caps broke. The screw for the cap is longer than the cap itself. Since this is a chemical, your instinct should be to cap the bottle tightly. But if you do so the top of the cap will crack and pop up. Exposing the insides. So be careful, and if it pops, put it in another bottle with appropriate warning labels. Due to the bad cap I docked it a star.

Title: Bacteria poison is people poison?!
Content: This product works flawlessly. Using it is essential to human health and humidifier longevity. Bacteria and algae will absolutely grow and be introduced into the air without appropriate treatment (bad for human and pet health; also icky smells). This product is odorless and makes humidifier upkeep a breeze by extending wick life and eliminating biofilms (bacteria sludge). Despite its terrifying label, the treatment solution is essentially a cleaning product comparable to ammonia that we all keep under our kitchen sinks. The warning label might actually keep people from being too casual with the product, which should be treated like bleach or ammonia—with care. The dose makes the poison: this treatment must be diluted at approx 1:1000 (0.16 fl. ounces per gallon of water). If you are smelling chemicals, that is a sign that the product wasn’t diluted and was allowed by flawed equipment or improper use to evaporate undiluted (or that waaaaay too much product was used). Using this product reduces the use of other potentially harmful and annoying products, like bleach. The alternative to using this bacteriacide in an evaporative humidifier is weekly hour-long cleanings with bleach and shorter wick life. (Note: household bleach has the same dire safety warnings about wearing gloves and goggles; Essick Air and Clorox are both OSHA cat 1 & 2 hazards (eyes/skin). Food for thought.) I’ve used this product for three long winters, eyeball the measurement, and have never experienced a problem. Humid air reduces airborne bacteria, mold spores, virus particles, and allergens. A properly working humidifier needs a bacteria- and algae-free reservoir/water source. This product works great without any pool chemical odors!

Great value but it really does work. she puts it in her large humidifier but also her little ones as well it really cuts down on the water dust sports and regular dust around the house. Keeps her large humidifier clean and has never had a problem with it after 9 years of use and she believes its because she used this to keep it clean and running well. You only use a cap or 2 full but she orders more because it takes so long to get and never wants to run out
