This actually happened to me when I called a local contractor and had a service guy come out and look at my fireplace. I found this part -an exact replacement of the entire pilot/thermopile/thermocouple assembly here for $55, delivered a day after I ordered it and installed it myself and had my fireplace up and running in about an hour.
Title: Wrong threads
Content: Part number in description is the same but threads of the naturagas input do not match to the oem connection for Empire Comfort Systems R-3624 pilot assembly. Ordered 2 from different sellers and both were wrong threads.

Content: the gas pilot assembly arrived very quickly and is an almost exact replica of the faulty assembly I removed from my vent free gas log fireplace. installation was quick and easy and i was able to get the fire burning in no time.

Content: This was a perfect, exact replacement part for our 10 year old assembly. Remove the old part. (You will reuse the little shield around it by pulling it down and wiggling it) Installation was just the reverse of removal. Easy-peasy. A couple of tips from my install: 1.) Take a picture of everything (old assembly, wiring locations, etc.) before you begin disassembly so you can reassemble correctly. 2.) A headlamp really helps put light where you need it in the dark fireplace. 3.) The black wire coming off the bottom of the ceramic base of thermopile just pulls off and pushes back on the new part. 4.). The two Phillips head mounting screws are tough to access and unscrew, and also take a surprising amount of resistance to reinstall.
