It's not stated, but is implied, that by pushing on the rod it will compress it the 1-3" needed to get it into place, then the pressure of the compressed spring will hold the rod in place. Neither of the 2 rods I purchased will compress more than 1/32", no matter how long or short I make the rods, or even after applying over 50lbs of force directly on the spring. This is unacceptable, and it is a shame. The rods are well made of quality materials, and are easy to assemble. But, a spring, in a spring tension rod, should easily have 3" of spring flexibility. This product does not deliver on that. I am returning both and will buy a different brand.

This is unacceptable, and it is a shame. The rods are well made of quality materials, and are easy to assemble. But, a spring, in a spring tension rod, should easily have 3" of spring flexibility. This product does not deliver on that. I am returning both and will buy a different brand.

Content: I thought this might be flimsy but it is strong and holds up well. Granted, I do not use it for a shower, and the opening is only 48 inches, but for a room separation/divider, it stays in place and is a strong hold.

Content: This is probably one of the best tension-style rods I've seen, both in terms of look and function. Most of the tension rods look like cheap poles on a wall. But this design, with the end caps at each end make it look as though it is screwed/secured into the wall, which is generally the much better albeit much more labour intensive way to secure a shower curtain rod. The twisting tension mechanism also works perfectly. I've seen ones with cheap springs that wouldn't keep tension after a few days. This one is made to last, it isn't going anywhere. Looks good with my décor and styling. I highly recommend this!

It comes with several pieces of rod that you put together to create the length you need. One end of the rod has the spring in it and you build your length. While quality varied, they were all easy to assemble and install. Now, I bought 2 of these and encountered the same problem with both... the spring is impossible to compress. I have followed the directions for both assembly and installation, and I am totally dissatisfied. The instructions say to extend the length of the rod (by twisting it) to 1-3" beyond the width of the space into which the rod is to be secured. It's not stated, but is implied, that by pushing on the rod it will compress it the 1-3" needed to get it into place, then the pressure of the compressed spring will hold the rod in place. Neither of the 2 rods I purchased will compress more than 1/32", no matter how long or short I make the rods, or even after applying over 50lbs of force directly on the spring.
